Horse loans are available as Quarter Loans. This means that the loaner will completely look after the loaned horse on the agreed weekday evening and the agreed weekend day.
Exercising the horse on the loan days
Reporting any issues with the horse
Maintaining the horses equipment (tack, Blankets, Numnahs etc)
Looking after the horse on the agreed days even if the horse is not available to be ridden on that day – due to lameness or illness.
Arranging cover for looking after your horse on the loan days if you cannot do it yourself. This needs to be agreed with Shelleen Valley EC so that it can be confirmed that the person providing the cover is suitable for the horse in question.
Looking after the horse on non loan days, unless medical treatment is required in which case loaners are asked to help.
Shoeing the horse
Vets bills
If a loaned horse cannot be ridden on a loan day (for example if it is lame) Shelleen Valley EC will try and make another horse available for riding but this cannot be guaranteed.
Each horse has an allocated colour. It is highly recommended that where possible items purchased should in the colour of the horse. This makes it easier for the staff to spot when items have been borrowed from another horse, and hence need to be replaced.
The cost of replacing equipment will be shared between the people that loan the horse.
Items / treatments (e.g. Clipping) requested by a rider are the responsibility of the rider to cover the cost. This may be through agreeing to split the cost with the other loaners.
For Items / treatments(e.g. Clipping) requested by Shelleen Valley EC the loaner will be expected to pay for their share of this treatment / item normally one third of the cost.
